Never give up

It has been a while since I last wrote my column, between now and then, a lot has happened for me. Summer has been great and racing in the World Series by Renault has been a steep learning curve for me, but an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

Living the Monaco dream

The Monaco Grand Prix has always been considered as the crème de la crème of the racing world. Very few have had the privilege of racing there, but over the course of its 84 year history, hundreds have raced the street circuit, and all ofthem have walked away enchanted by the sheer thrill it offers.

Keeping the motivation going

The business of motor sport is probably one of the most complicated sports ever. A driver can have the best car, and the best team but is still not able to extract 100% out of the car and as such does not deliver great results. Do you then blame the driver or look into other factors that could have possibly contributed to such a result.

Want to race? Go karting first

Karting was pure driving, real racing. And that makes me happy. – Ayrton Senna

Karting is the purest form of racing there is. Every Formula 1 driver on the grid today started with karts, and it’s been that way for many years now. Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, every modern Formula 1 driver started his racing journey on a humble go-kart.

Only the strong

For sportsmen, the urge to win and be the best is probably among the loudest voices in our heads. It’s very hard to ignore this voice, and it’s what drives us to wake up earlier than anyone else, to train harder than anyone else, to push our bodies beyond its limit, to eat food which our tongue disagrees with, and all of it just to gain that extra edge over our competitors.

The price of Passion

Passion, a word that has such a broad meaning and yet is so singular. It’s quite difficult to explain passion to someone as you can be passionate about anything, I recently read about a lady who had RM1.6million worth of Louboutin shoes, and though that might make some of us cringe, who are we to judge as she could just be passionate about those shoes and has the money to indulge in them.

What a week!

What a week I’ve had! Interviewing David Coulthard and Michael Schumacher, being given a masterclass in training by the World Champion and a trip to the prestigious Autosport Awards – all in the space of four days, it’s been brilliant and I have to share with you all the details.

Macau – one of my all-time favourite tracks

Macau as a race circuit is incredible. It has a mix of tight twisty bends, high speed corners such as Mandarin and Fisherman’s Bend and hard braking ones like the first gear Melco Hairpin. Some of the others have a blind and bumpy approach which makes it very challenging.
