I set my sights on being a professional racing driver when I was just six, after my first visit to a go-kart track. I started my career at home in Malaysia, racing competitively in go-karts from the age of seven.
My first victory came when I was only eight years old, despite being years younger than many of my rivals. My(some say) precocious talent was exemplified by the granting of a dispensation for me to be issued with an International C license at just 14 years old, one year younger than is standard.
I was very fortunate to have been noticed in Malaysia, by Malaysia’s largest motorsport sponsor, Petronas - the national oil company of Malaysia, with the company supporting my career from 2008 - 2015. As a sponsor of F1 team, Mercedes AMG Petronas, Petronas afforded me the opportunity to experience the inner workings of a top Formula One outfit and gave me a unique insight into this exclusive world. I've now turned my focus to sportscar racing and working with a top manufacturer is the goal.
