Zandvoort hosts the famed RTL GP Masters of Formula Three, an event which first took place in 1991 and on that occasion won by former F1 driver and current DTM racer, David Coulthard. It was established to draw together the best of the European F3 drivers and has been a blue riband event since this time with an illustrious list of winners including Lewis Hamilton, who took the crown in 2005. PETRONAS-supported Jazeman says of the weekend ahead, “I’m very excited to be racing again at another of Europe’s iconic tracks, having just returned from the famed Spa-Francorchamps. I drove at this event last year and we showed strong pace, so I’m going to be looking to repeat this level of performance, hopefully better, at the track this weekend. There’s a rich history at this circuit and like everyone who has driven here, I just love it. The track is known to be a very high-speed circuit and having the track close to the seaside, it can also sometimes be very windy. Having to get the best out of yourself and the car over one lap in qualifying will be challenging but I’m confident and I’m looking forward to it.” “The International Trophy is a series which is giving me additional track experience to complement my British F3 campaign, but it’s only seven events so I need to be getting as many points as I can. A third place finish in the first race at Spa last weekend helped me to gain ground in the championship and I’m aiming to get some more at Zandvoort and hopefully that will move me further up the leaderboard.” The 18 year old Malaysian adds, “The grid will be a mix of drivers from British F3 and the F3 Euroseries, but for this event we will be running on Kumho tyres which are used by the F3 Euroseries, but not by us, as we run on Cooper Tires. Getting the car to work well with a different tyre is always a challenge, so that will certainly be one of the focuses at the start of the weekend.  Grid position will, as always, be very important, so our qualifying session needs to be as strong as possible. I’m not worried too much about this as I know I have a strong team behind me with Carlin and we will work hard to do our best. I’m looking forward to the challenge which Zandvoort offers and some great racing in the weekend ahead.” The two GP Masters of Formula Three practice sessions take place on Saturday morning, 13th August, followed by two qualifying sessions in the afternoon. The race starts at 13.30 on Sunday 14th August, with 25 laps of the circuit, maximum 60 minutes racing, to decide the winner.
