Ready for China – another win? stay tuned!
Jazeman Jaafar and fellow Malaysian teammates, Weiron Tan and Nabil Jeffri are ready for another exciting weekend of World Endurance Championship racing at the 6 Hours of Shanghai in China.
Riding high from his first win in this championship last time out in Japan, Jazeman returns to the driving seat of the #37 Jackie Chan DC Racing ORECA-Gibson LMP2 expecting to be up at the front once again. With the #37 drivers sitting on equal points with the drivers from the #38 sister car, just 1 point behind the leaders in the Drivers Championship, there’s plenty at stake, as WEC enters the second half of its Super Season.
Jazeman is eager to return to the track and says, “The title fight is so close that every lap on track counts, whether its practice, qualifying or the race. There’s been four winners in four races and with just the one point separating the top three cars, it’s a really close contest. I think we all thrive on this level of competition, I know I enjoy the challenge of achieving perfection every time I’m driving.”
He adds, “It’s not just in the driving seat that you have to be at the top of your game though, it’s all the other elements – maintaining a fitness programme that ensures you can endure the demands of endurance racing, getting your diet right and plenty of sleep, as well as working with the engineers to get the potential out of the car.”
China is a particularly special weekend for the team as the ‘home race’ for the Chinese-owned Jackie Chan DC Racing team, with Jazeman saying, “On top of the racing preparation China is also an extra busy weekend of promotional activities, so we need to balance these commitments with our racing programme. I love it all and am soaking up the atmosphere and the passion we see in China, now we need to be putting on a good show for our fans.”
