Jazeman becomes full member of the British Racing Drivers Club

Jazeman has been accepted as a full member of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC), after two years on the organisation’s Rising Star programme.

The BRDC is, arguably, the most exclusive club in motor racing. With a membership of only 850, it is home to the most successful racing drivers from Great Britain and the Commonwealth, who have met the exacting entry criteria and achieved at the highest levels of the sport. Membership of the BRDC is highly sought after and difficult to achieve and the list of Members, past and present, reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of motorsport. Jazeman has been a member of the BRDC Rising Star programme for the last two seasons, having been identified by the Club as a promising talent. Following his success in British F3 and more recently in Formula Renault 3.5 Series the PETRONAS Talent Development driver reached the necessary level of success to be eligible for full membership. Fellow Malaysian drivers, who are also BRDC members, Alex Yoong and Fairuz Fauzy, proposed and seconded Jazeman’s application for membership, which was approved by the BRDC board last month. Jazeman says of attaining membership of the BRDC, “I am very proud to have reached the level of success needed to become a member and join a Club with such prestige and a roll call of members that is so full of famous names. The BRDC is the backbone of Silverstone and, now that I am based in the UK, is a circuit that I’ve visited often. I’ve raced at Silverstone in British F3, tested in F1 with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS F1 team and spectated at numerous events, both four and two wheels, so it’s very familiar to me. I look forward to being involved with the Club and networking with fellow members at events in the future.” Derek Warwick, former Grand Prix driver and President of the BRDC, adds, “We offer Jazeman a warm welcome to full membership of the British Racing Drivers Club, having graduated from our Rising Stars programme. Jazeman is a young, talented driver who has been successfully climbing through the ranks of the sport and has achieved considerable success. He is an excellent role model for up and coming Malaysian racing drivers and I am sure that his country is very proud of his achievements.” The BRDC owns and operates Silverstone Circuit in the UK and has been responsible for developing it into a world class motorsport venue and promoting top flight motor racing for 60 years. As ‘guardians of British motorsport’ the BRDC has for many years fostered young driver talent as evidenced by its BRDC Rising Star programme for British and Commonwealth drivers and its SuperStars programme for British drivers.
